Dance & Yoga

Yoga (Ages 18+)
Instructor: Lindsey Gomez
A breath-centered vinyasa (flow) Hatha yoga class that will calm the mind and rejuvenate the body. The class will include a brief meditation at the beginning and end that will help you become more in-tune with your breath as well as quiet the busy-ness of the mind. Practice will be adapted to suit all levels from beginners to experienced practitioners.

Cool Crafts
 

Pinata Making (Ages 7-15)

Instructor: Ana Matthew

Pinatas are popular as a game-like activity at special events. To make your own pinata there are a couple of do-it-yourself techniques you can consider using like paper mache'. You will be inspired when you discover how easy it can be.

Craft Pot & Canvas (Ages 5+)

One class will have students making an adorable painting with the kiddos initials. The next class will have the student decorating a pot and planting a seed to watch grow throughout the summer.

Wheel Throwing (Ages 16+) CLASS IS FULL

Instructor: Lida Scharton

Students will learn the basics of how to throw on the wheel.  They will be provided with 25 lbs. of clay and the use of all Firehouse glazes.

Kid Hand Building (Ages 7-11)

Learn basic hand building techniques and apply them in this class where kids will build, carve, and glaze their very own creations!

Open Pottery Studio

Students 18 and older with prior ceramics experience may sign-up for open studio use of the ceramics room.  The fee covers use of wheels, and glazes. Firing is only done by Firehouse personnel when kiln is full.

Private piano lessons for kids and adults, beginner to intermediate level tailored to the needs of each individual student.

This is for photographers wanting a place to print. Green chemicals and some equipment provided; bring your own paper.

Grab your friends, coworkers, or make it a unique date night and join us for an evening of entertaining art instruction. Not artistic? A little nervous? Don't worry! Our instructor will guide you through step by step recreating the featured painting. It’s easy, fun, and totally stress free. By the end of the night you will be amazed at the artwork you have created!

Cookies and Canvas not only instructs but also instills confidence in budding artists! Painting and socializing over cookies while your artwork has a little time to dry is just perfect! Parents are welcome to join, painting a memory with their child.

Beginner Oil Painting/Drawing (Ages 15+)

Instructor: Diamond Vigil

A practical introduction to the materials and techniques of oil painting. Learn palette layout, color mixing, methods of paint application, and the selection, handling and clean-up of materials. Investigate issues of color and composition through the still life and portrait.

Advanced Oil Painting/Drawing (Ages 15+)

Instructor: Diamond Vigil

When you have outgrown the basics and the old ‘should’ and 'should nots’ of painting, then you are ready for the advance class. This class will focus on painting from life and working from photographs. We will explore color and brushwork along with some drawing skills. These tools will give you the creative confidence to break the old rules and make art decisions that truly express you!

Introduction to painting from life, the fastest way to improve your work. Focuses on color recognition, color mixing and application as well as simplifying shapes and composition. Attention to each student based on individual needs. Lots of demos.

Crochet (Ages 15+)

A class for beginners. We’ll start with the basics including reading patterns and make our way each class learning new stitches while working on a lovely triangle shawl.

Registration Information:

  • To register for a class, you can come by the Firehouse to fill out a registration form and pay for the class or for a limited time, visit our class registration page.

  • Class spots cannot be held until payment is received

  • You must pre-register for all classes

  • DRCA Members receive a 10% discount

  • Classes may cancel due to insufficient enrollment, students will be notified by phone

  • Full refund are given only if class is canceled by the Firehouse. If a student wishes to cancel before the first class day a full refund less 30% will be given.

  • No refund after first class

In order to better serve you and insure the enjoyment and safety of our youngest art patrons,

please be on time to pick-up your child. 
Please let us know if your child has any special needs. All classes are designed to be age appropriate and you will need to contact the Firehouse if you are interested in having your child attend a class outside of his/her age limit. Thank you for your interest as we continue to provide quality art education!
