Canvas & Cocktails (Ages 21+)

Instructor: Kimberlye Richardson

Grab your friends, coworkers, or make it a unique date night and join us for an evening of entertaining art instruction. Not artistic? A little nervous? Don't worry! Our instructor will guide you through step by step recreating the featured painting. It’s easy, fun, and totally stress free. By the end of the night you will be amazed at the artwork you have created!

Cookies and Canvas not only instructs but also instills confidence in budding artists! Painting and socializing over cookies while your artwork has a little time to dry is just perfect! Parents are welcome to join, painting a memory with their child.

Beginner/Intermediate Watercolor (Ages 16+)

Instructor: Greg Germany

Immerse yourself in the serenity of the natural world by creating outdoor landscape paintings in this basic watercolor class. Participants will learn the basic techniques of watercolor painting and explore special strategies for creating landforms, water, clouds, vegetation, and more.

Beginner-Intermediate Oil Painting/Drawing (Ages 15+)

Instructor: Diamond Vigil

A practical introduction to the materials and techniques of oil painting. Learn palette layout, color mixing, methods of paint application, and the selection, handling and clean-up of materials. Investigate issues of color and composition through the still life and portrait.

Puppet Making (Ages 7-11)

Instructor: Tera Avila
Learn to create your very own hand puppet and marionette.  In this class we will use papier maché and a simple sewing pattern to assemble two types of puppets.

Creative Writing Group (Ages 16-Adult)

No matter if you have an idea in your head or a finished novel in a drawer, join us to learn how to move your writing forward, while forgetting about your high school English class.

Fitness

 

Yoga (Ages 18+)

Instructor: Lindsey Gomez

A breath-centered vinyasa (flow) Hatha yoga class that will calm the mind and rejuvenate the body. The class will include a brief meditation at the beginning and end that will help you become more in-tune with your breath as well as quiet the busy-ness of the mind. Practice will be adapted to suit all levels from beginners to experienced practitioners.

Piano Lessons (Ages 6-Adult)

Piano lessons are for the beginning piano student and those who want to review their skills. Learning to play the piano is great for all ages. Students signing up will be performing in the annual spring recital May 4.

Photography

Community Open Darkroom (Ages 18-Adult)

This is for photographers wanting a place to print. Green chemicals and some equipment provided; bring your own paper.

Students will learn the basics of how to throw on the wheel.  They will be provided with 25 lbs. of clay and the use of all Firehouse glazes.

Ceramic Plant Hangers & Planters (Ages 16+)

Instructor: Julia Lipe

In this two-day workshop you will learn how to build little, or big, homes for your plants! Whether you’re bold & bright or laid back & neutral, you will have the chance to create the perfect planter for your space. They also make as great gifts!

Pottery Date Night (Ages 21+)

Instructor: Julia Lipe

Bring your better half and create handmade mugs together! There will be collaborating but also a little friendly competition never hurt so be ready to show off your creative side. What makes better than a relaxing evening making pottery and sipping on some wine?

Handmade Holiday Things (Ages 16+)

Instructor: Julia Lipe

Hate holiday shopping? Come and create unique ceramic gifts or holiday décor this season during this two-day workshop. Handmade ideas such as, planters, magnets, mugs, ornaments, and candle holders will be just some of the options you can make!

Open Pottery Studio

Students 18 and older with prior ceramics experience may sign-up for open studio use of the ceramics room.  The fee covers use of wheels, and glazes. Firing is only done by Firehouse personnel when kiln is full. Call for studio availability

Registration Information:

  • To register for a class, you can come by the Firehouse to fill out a registration form and pay for the class

  • Class spots cannot be held until payment is received

  • You must pre-register for all classes

  • DRCA Members receive a 10% discount

  • Classes may cancel due to insufficient enrollment, students will be notified by phone

  • Full refund are given only if class is canceled by the Firehouse. If a student wishes to cancel before the first class day a full refund less 30% will be given.

  • No refund after first class

In order to better serve you and insure the enjoyment and safety of our youngest art patrons,

please be on time to pick-up your child. 
Please let us know if your child has any special needs. All classes are designed to be age appropriate and you will need to contact the Firehouse if you are interested in having your child attend a class outside of his/her age limit. Thank you for your interest as we continue to provide quality art education!
