Our Philosophy & Mission

PHILOSOPHY
At every class we work hard to instill a solid foundation in the technique and vocabulary of ballet, tap, jazz, acro, and hip-hop while helping each student appreciate the art of dance.

Our greatest goal is to inspire children to be the best they can be in all they do, and our greatest satisfaction is when we see pure joy on their faces!

The school is open to children and career-oriented students as well as anyone who wishes to study for the pure enjoyment of the art form.

MISSION

To provide a progressive platform of dance instruction that stresses both physical and artistic development to our students so that they may safely push their personal limits in the classroom, onstage and beyond!

Miss Annie's Story

Annie Marshall brings 20 years of dance and 7 years of teaching experience to the studio. She has studied ballet, lyrical, jazz, tap, hip hop and pointe. Anne was selected for a competitive dance troop which allowed her to train at the prestigious Tremaine Dance Conventions for seven years. In addition to dance, Annie was active in tumbling, acting, cheerleading and singing - skills which helped her compete on the National level at the Diamond Miss Pageant, perform at the halftime show of the NCAA Aloha Bowl (won NCA All-American Cheerleader status) and win a scholarship in the Miss Kansas Pageant system.

Annie started teaching children at the age of 16 with the City of Liberal, Kansas Parks and Recreation. She worked with 4-8 year olds teaching tumbling and acrobatics as well as various sports and camps.

Teaching continued to be a focus in Annie's college years at the Music Education Program at Wichita State University. She studied for four semesters before enlisting in the United States Air Force. Annie served 7 years and graduated from the Chinese/Mandarin program at the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA. Annie continued working with kids in children's ministry and sports throughout her college and Air Force career. After moving to Del Rio in 2008, she began working at Velocity Elite Cheer and Dance and later at the Firehouse.

In 2009 Annie began teaching at Velocity. Her classes included Mommy and Me movement, Preschool & Recreational Tumbling, Competitive Cheer, Hip Hop, Lyrical and Drill Teams. She has coached four competitive dance teams to National Championships and choreographed solos to the same level in hip hop, jazz and lyrical.

In 2012 Annie got the opportunity to take over the dance instruction at the Firehouse in Del Rio. She teaches ballet and tap to children ages 3-12. Through the Firehouse she directs the City of Del Rio's Nutcracker production in December which she considers to be one of the highlights of her year. Miss Annie is also very honored to serve on the Board for the Upstagers of Del Rio.

Miss Annie is always seeking new opportunities for the studio and her students. In addition to her dance instructor training at the Tremaine Convention in Dallas this summer, she also completed her certification for Acro Level 1 with Acrobatic Arts in Calgary, Canada. Acrobatic dance has been gaining popularity in recent years due to the high visibility of groups such as Cirque du Soleil. Acrobatic Arts trains teachers around the globe in their Acro technique which is designed to promote a progressive approach to create dancers who are stronger, more flexible and fearless. Miss Annie's is proud to be an Acrobatic Arts Certified Studio, and she can't wait to offer this new technique to the young dancers of Del Rio!
